My girlfriend Michelle and 3 other gals do the "Weekend to End Breast Cancer Walk" every year. As a fundraiser each year they host an Amazing Race. Yesterday, 34 teams of 4 (136 people) were flying around Edmonton completing Roadblocks, Detours, and other various tasks. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!
The BEST BREASTS OF THE WEST (Michelle~not the organizer~, Tannis, Shari and me) completed 18 tasks that made us jump in the pool, run around the Farmers Market on Whyte, change tires on a truck, do a fireman's obstacle course, shoot a bow & arrow, ride a trike wearing hockey equipment, we struck pose at Lululemon.....and RUNNING! We ran for 4 hours. Michelle put on her pedometer "just to see" - well, we did almost 15,000 steps (all running) or 11.5 km! Our official time was 4hrs and 34mins. The winning team did it in 3hrs and 15mins. You can bet we'll be doing it again next year! I'll see if I can get some pics to post up here.
Today I am exhausted! We just finished lunch and the family is going to cuddle up on the couch downstairs and watch a movie.
Lots of luv,
Jaime

No longer a baby
My baby is no longer a baby....she turned 4 on Tuesday. She had a party at the gymnastic studio on Saturday with 10 of her buddies - it was exhausting watching them run, jump, and tumble for an hour. They all had so much fun! On Tuesday, church school threw her another party. On Wednesday, preschool sang another round of Happy Birthday. I asked what she wanted me to bring for snack (I was mommy helper) and she said "anything but cupcakes mom!". She decided to take fruit snacks and grapes. Teacher Ria always has the kids blow out a candle but without a cupcake we had to put the candle inside a grape! The funniest picture I think she'll ever have in her photo album! :) And today.....movies and computer games from Grandpa Stan came in the mail and a card from Grandpa Jocko and Grandma Margaret with a Walmart Gift Card inside......I'm hoping it has come to an end by now! Poor thing will think birthdays "should" be a week long celebration! :)
I've been doing double time on the cardio this past week, I want to get "ahead" of myself so I don't feel as guilty for not doing it while JJ is away. The last 2 weeks I have only been doing 2 weight days/week. It's amazing how fast your muscle weakens! A month ago when I was training with Rod & Brenda I could deal out 3 sets of 12 pull ups - I struggled to get through 2 sets of 8 yesterday - oops!
My friend Shannon is competing in Fitness Model on May 12 in Calgary. She is in her final 2.5 weeks and needs all the support we can dish out. Her blog URL is listed on the right side of my blog - when you have time, scoot over to her site and give her some words of encouragment. My cousin Leigh is competing and training for May 12 but she doesn't have a blog. You can leave some uplifting comments here for her as she checks out my blog regularly! :)

Off he goes....
JJ was handed the opportunity to go to Russia with Hockey Canada for the Men's World Championships. He's been struggling with his decision for over a month now. He had pretty much made up his mind not to go.....then admitted to himself that he would regret NOT going - so he leaves May 3rd for 12 days. I think it's amazing! Russia isn't a place I ever want to visit, so the fact that he can go over with a good group of guys is going to be a great experience for him.
The downside.....no holiday for us just yet. Not sure when we'll be able to go with Rookie camp and the Draft after Russia. Probably sometime in July. I'm happy I decided not to compete on May 12th - I couldn't imagine being on my own with the kids 2 weeks out from a show and having no support.
With snow on the ground, AGAIN (arg!), I got up and headed to the gym for my run this morning. The kids' have swim lessons tonight so when JJ takes them there, I'll head back for another session of cardio and a good 20minute tan!
Lots of hugs and luv,
Jaime

New pics
It's been a good week. I've gotten into the gym everyday, except Saturday and Sunday, which is usually my off day. It's kind of funny having JJ home. All winter I've been waiting for him to "be home" so it would be easier to get out of the house....but I'm finding it a little opposite! We got up Saturday, had breakfast, cleaned up and I said "so hon, what's our plan today 'cause I want to get into the gym" and he said "no you don't, it's SATURDAY" and I was like "I know, but I go to the gym on Saturdays......"
My mind is saying "JJ is home, you're free!" and JJ's mind is saying "I'm finally home, time to enjoy life with my family". I am so used to following MY routine and not having anyone else to think about....except the kids, and well, I'm their mother so what I say, goes! :)
Instead of heading to the gym for 2.5 hours, I headed out the door to enjoy a good 50min run. We then enjoyed the rest of the day together playing at the park and doing some spring work outside. JJ and Josh fired up the pressure washer to peel some concrete....good times!
Shannon and Leigh don't read this next part: ;)
I went out with the girls last night to the Olive Garden to celebrate Shari's 29th bday! ;) I haven't been their for years! I have almost cut pasta right out of my diet the last 3 months. I dived into a tall glass containing a Ceaser while waiting for our table. Then ordered the Italian Feast - which included Lasagna, Abbriatta Penne and Chicken Parmigiana! OMG!!! Dessert was looking really good, but just didn't have the room for it. It was all sooooooo good!
I'm taking today off from the gym. My legs are still sore from Monday. I pushed myself pretty hard.
Hopefully JJ will have time to look at our camera....we can't get pics to download straight to our computer.

I feel like Jaime again
After completley recovering from the most horrible bug that has ever entered my body I entered the gym today - twice! I was up and at 'er at 545am. I can't bring myself to run when it's cold outside (yes, whimp) so I went to the gym for a nice 30min jog on the treadmill using my imagination doing my hills and block speedbursts...and lots of adjusting on the machine. Later when I dropped the girls off at school I went back and did my weights and another 40mins on the elliptical. I promised myself to get 2 cardios in at least 4 times a week. I'm using the FAME May 12th show as a goal for myself - to look damn good and then go to cheer on my chickies Shannon and Leigh who are competing in Fitness Model. I think my neighbor is going to compete in the same category so I'll be doing a lot of whooping and hollering.
Gotta run quick - now that the NHL season is over I have to cook for my husband everynight....not that I'll ever complain about having him around tho'! We're all excited to have him back!

He is Risen!
John 19:30
When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27. Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own [home]. 28. After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put [it] upon hyssop, and put [it] to his mouth. 30. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
It is finished = Paid in full. Jesus filled, overfilled, our spiritual bank account with enough to last us a million lifetimes! All we need to do is claim that bank account, thank Jesus for bearing our sins, dedicate our lives to Him and promise to live through Him.
Luke 24
The Resurrection
1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " 8Then they remembered his words.
9When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
On the Road to Emmaus
13Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16but they were kept from recognizing him.
17He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?"
They stood still, their faces downcast. 18One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?"
19"What things?" he asked.
"About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning 23but didn't find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see."
25He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?" 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
28As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. 29But they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.
30When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
33They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon." 35Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."
37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate it in their presence.
44He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
The Ascension
50When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
God Bless,
Jaime

Icky Bug!
No need to work out when you're not eating! Seriously, I think I have had 2 bowls of turkey soup (homemade), 2 pieces of pizza, and a chicken breast since Tuesday!
I have had the ickiest bug in my system. I don't have the poops and I'm not puking, but my stomach is cramping every time I put something into it and I am so bloated. I feel about 4 months pregnant! I ate nothing on Wednesday. I made some turkey soup on Thursday which tasted really good. On Friday my son had his wind up hockey party. I was feeling "normal" so I attempted a piece of pizza. Tasted awesome! It was sitting fine so I had another small piece. We were packed and ready for the 2 hour drive to my parents place and I hardly made it there! My dad gave me a alkesieltzer (sp?) and it helped a bit.
Same story Saturday - woke up good, but didn't want to attempt breakfast. Got my hair cut. Went to lunch with Clint & Lorilee. I wasn't sure what to have so I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and just ate the chicken. A couple hours later I was folded on the couch! It was a funny night tho'. Obviously some of the bug is working through the kids and my daughter (almost 4) was walking around Nana and Papa's saying "pull my finger!". We would and she would toot and giggle herself breathless! Both her and Josh were stinkin' up the place. I was happy it was coming out of them instead of cramping like me. Papa gave Em a hug goodnight and squeezed a toot out of her. She was still giggling when she woke up Sunday. :)
Today I had a sandwich at lunch - I miss eating! We travelled home and I had a banana. Right now my stomach is turning, gurgling, and bloated. I have no idea what is going on, but I'm hoping it'll go away soon. I miss food and my workouts!
I think it's almost time to take pics - maybe by the end of this week I'll have new ones up! I'm definitely leaner than I was 4 weeks ago. I got all my cardio in - doubles in 4x a week - but unfortunately missed 5 days last week. I'm hoping to get into the gym tomorrow and do light cardio. No weights since I haven't been fueling the bod properly.
Hugs,
Jaime
